Back in 1.0 if I couldn’t relate to a comic, it meant that I hadn’t played the game it was referencing. Now I can’t relate to it because I’m not a parent, which is apparently the single most important thing in the world. I’ll give you credit for writing whatever you want without corporate shackles though, some AAA movie companies don’t even have that luxury.
Wow, edgy. But let’s do some fact checking, shall we? In Aug/Sept, I count 17 posted comics. 6 were D-Pad + Analog, 1 was Console Wars, and a paltry 3 were about parenting (1 of which was also about gaming, as well). Clearly the merits of parenthood are being shoved right down the old gullet. But since you seem mystified by all three of them, here’s a little bit of insight about writers: they tend to write about their own personal experiences. You’ve got a little something on your nose there, something brown? I think it may have come from “Mr. Buckley’s” rear. Can I offer you a wet towel? As for your brilliant insights into writing, I was under the impression that this was a web comic about video games and (as much as I hate this phrase) geek culture, not a web comic based on someone’s diary. I realize I’m a little bit of a twat, making a stink about two comics out of thousands, but I’ve supported this web comic for a very long time, I’ve read every comic… Read more »
Let me clear this up (for the millionth time in the past 16 years): This is a comic about WHATEVER I FEEL LIKE WRITING ABOUT.
Just because a LOT of the time that may be video games, doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to do other things if I think I have something to say about another subject.
Xim needs a life. Lots of gamers are also parents. This was a comic about where parenting and gaming intersect. It’s relevant and funny. Especially if you have a life.
I’m often surprised at how many people pull off gaming while parenting.
I got Breath of the Wild a few months after my daughter was born and I’m still stealing moments here and there after she goes to bed. I can’t imagine playing several games at once, on top of working, parenting and just general adulting.
Well, far be it for me to argue with you and you gate-keeping. I mean entitled-consumer complex. Sorry, I mean clicks. For the record, as someone who works for an online advertiser, you’d be surprised just how little ad revenue those clicks are often worth, especially if they don’t translate to actual conversions. That said, I get the point that you’re a long-time reader and that you feel entitled to voice your opinion. That’s fair and valid. However, it doesn’t entitle you to be an ass about it, nor does it mean your opinion carries more weight than *other* longtime… Read more »
oh its only a matter of time now till he grows old enough to understand gaming himself. then youll be fighting the dreaded hooky attempts. though it will be alot harder with your knowledge of game release days.

Checks out. I made a similar comment about this in regards to Destiny 2’s expansion called Forsaken. I told my wife, “It’s because of what happens with all your relationships. That boy is about to grow up without a father.”
