Edit: I, uhh… So I forgot to actually attach the comic image when I made this post last night. My kids gifted me one final head cold for the season, and amidst the medicines and sleepiness, I think I typed up the title of the comic and thought “Good job, Tim. All done here” and went to bed.
Whoops.

Original Post Below:
Well this is a bit overdue.
At least now, if you want to refresh/catch up on the past Campaign comics, you can do so without sorting through hundreds of other pages!
I’ve also posted an update for EU/UK and Australian readers who were looking to get their hands on the Ctrl+Alt+Del 1.0 boxed set.

is it just me or is this comic not loading?
It’s not just you … fails to load
Not loading for me either. I checked comments just to see if others were having the problem as well.
Whew, I thought I was the only one.
I forgot to place a comic TO load. :/
Hehe. Yay for head colds and medicines!
Yep.
I also can’t see it
It loads for me
Yes, because I just attached the image XD
Comment on the new site:
on the main page, when you browse through the comics using Previous / Next, the browser back button takes you back to the previous page you where on prior to CAD.
I discovered this issue while on mobile.
Correct. We’re looking into changing that.
This is the best chat Tim. Thank you for the updates on all the various comments.
Yes! The campaign!
Please do more of these. They are my favourite after the Console Wars
OMG Yes!!!! Thank you for coming back to this story
😀
But Uncanny Dodge doesn’t affect Reflex saves! 🙁
UNLESS the specific rules they’re playing by state that a flat-footed character cannot make a reflex save (on account of being in a relaxed and non-combat-ready state). Uncanny Dodge ensures your character can never be caught flat-footed, which would then work in conjunction by allowing a reflex saving throw. 😉
But she was shot with a ballista, which is an attack roll resolved against her AC. Now, Uncanny Dodge would be useful in that circumstance because Cake would normally be flat-footed against the attack.
But when certain spells are considered “auto hit” they carry a target DC to give an opportunity to lessen or avoid the effects. So if a DM wanted the attack to be “auto hit” along those same lines for lore reasons, he could assign it a DC, moving the responsibility from to attacker to successfully roll a hit, to the target to successfully dodge it. And in my humble opinion, it’s always more fun for the player when they’re the ones rolling dice, instead of just having dice rolled against them. It’s hardly a “standard” attack along the lines of… Read more »
Spells that require Reflex saves to halve or negate are usually area-effect. There’s not really any need to homebrew anything. It’s an elven archer shooting a big crossbow. That would be an attack roll. The elven assassin’s training would be represented by having a high attack bonus possibly augmented by true strike spell. If armor is ignored, then this attack will resolve against touch AC similar to a firearm in Ultimate Combat. The GM houseruling this attack as an auto-hit allowing a Reflex save wouldn’t make much sense since the GM was intending to make this a major story event… Read more »
As per the laws of FFTA, “Reflex” solely affects standard attacks, but not items, battle tech, magic, or skills. If someone blugdeons you with an axe you will auto dodge. If someone shoots an arrow at you you will dodge. Someone hurls a health potion and it gets smashs you in the face you will get healed. Someone whacks you with a healing rod (which end does the healing…) you will dodge and not heal. BUT! If they launch a special arrow technique (such as a “Venom Arrow”) you will not dodge it and be forced to rely on your… Read more »
Sorting by the story (campaign, console wars, etc) is such a nice feature. I always wanted to go back when you pick up a new part of the story but didn’t know a convenient way to do it, so I never did.
So did the forums end up going away then? As I don’t see a link to them anywhere.
It still exist for now http://www.cad-forums.com but it won’t at some point in time. There’s a thread talking about where the community could move or do.
Player 4 is my spirit animal.
Yessssssss! So glad to see my absolute favorite CAD series back on deck.
Damn, that would have also taken out some teeth….
I am perplexed by physics in Players’ world. They cannot repeat feats of fallout physics and revengeance, but can do mortal wound with eraser end of pen?
There is nothing mortal about that wound. A thin object like a pencil could easily be driven through cheek tissue with enough force, blunt end or otherwise 🙂
Please tell me you don’t know this from experience.
It wouldn’t have been a Reflex save. She was shot, so it would have been an attack roll resolved against her AC. Uncanny Dodge wouldn’t help her on a Reflex save, but still very helpful against surprise attacks.
Except (as they are playing a custom campaign) the DM could conceivably classify the attack, due to its extreme range, as an “unexpected situation”. Her Uncanny Dodge would give her the opportunity to “react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so.”
For lore reasons, the attack could be classified generally as auto hit (elite elvish snipers that don’t miss), and could therefore carry a DC to give the target a chance to avoid the hit.
