Naw its DND, falling damage is a joke. It’s almost impossible to die from a leap off of the edge of the Grand Caynon with rules as written.

Agreed. 1d6 points per ten feet, maxing out at 200 feet? Assuming it’s straight D&D they’re playing, and 3 doesn’t land in lava or something, it’s easily survivable.

If they did like my group, upped the damage to 1d12 per 10′, and upped the cap to 1500 feet… maybe not so much.

These are just reasons why they should have healed before heading back. He really should know better.

If he’s a 9th level cleric with 14 con he’ll have 66hp on average a 200ft fall will deal on average 70dm. And at 9th level D&D characters are fairly superhuman.

So what you’re saying is that a 9th level cleric has about 50/50 odds of surviving a fall at terminal velocity. Seems fairly superhuman to me.

i mean to be fair his chance of instadeath is almost 0 (depending on how much hp he currently has in your example)

but after that its the matter if they can get to him within 12-30seconds (2-5rolls depending on luck) but i do agree fall dmg is a joke

I thought it was going to turn into a “I have to pick up the cleric, but then fail the check on account of all the extra weight I’m carrying”.

I know that the part of the staff that hit him is not quite right, but can we still agree that 3 got shafted in this one?

So. . . you totally get xp for that, right? Killing an adventurer of similar experience to you has got to provide a good chunk.

Levitate spell activate! It’ll be the second time 2 saves 3 with it, and the second time 2 shoves 3 off a cliff.

With that roll, I bet 2 also dropped the staff which fired a spell at his beard and set it on fire. Leaving him temporarily unable to cast anything, of course.

I’d say depends on fall distance. Wiz used his action to inadvertently assassinate the cleric. Cleric gets time to plummet, and that’s assuming the other two don’t add to the cluster-F trying to help. After all, too many people trying to independently help usually doom the project.
He’s probably already looking at his plummeting character and going “My next one is going to make his worst nightmares look like his fondest dream…”.

Why would 2 use such a sacred die for something as simple as a rescue? </sarcasm>

They need to first get a chicken, pig, rabbit, and goat wearing a tiny top hat to bounce the dice off of in succession to offset the curse.

Didn’t they adopted them yet? Why don’t they start a farm for the purpose?

i thought the curse only came into play when you were smug about the roll? here it would at least roll a 12-15

It’s funny here, but when a DM is REALLY all about making you roll for everything and then punishing you when the critical failure eventually comes up… It’s beyond dull and annoying.

Agreed. I call it “GM entertainment”. A steady 5% chance of failing no matter skill / circumstances etc – it’s silly.

Of course, in this case, it IS the DM who’s being punished. His DM PC, that is.

DM PCs are kinda weird. We used to use them occasionally when we didn’t have a lot of players, but mostly they’d end up being moderately useful background noise. IE, a cleric who wouldn’t say much and would just heal on demand and maybe swing his mace now and then.
