I’m excited for Splatoon 2 this weekend. I never got into the first one. I played, I think, one game at a store and my thought process went something like this: Oh wow, this is pretty fun, I could totally see myself falling in love with this gameplay and art style but, eh, that would mean I would practically need to chisel my Wii U out of the chrysalis of dust it has become entombed in, meh, nevermind.
It looked like a lot of fun though, so this time I’m getting on board. It seems, according to this past weekend’s Splatfest, that I am not alone in maybe thinking the game’s idols this time around are not necessarily created equal. I mean, there’s no way ice cream beats cake by that much, so it has to be the allure of Marina, am I right?

Sorry, Nick, but Hitler pursued aggressive war, which neither of those other two guys did (unless you count the Russo-Finnish War). Conservative estimates put the total number of people killed in WW II at over 60 million, and neither of them came close.

Reminds me of something I read the other day. Someone claimed that they felt WW2 was greatly exaggerated so we would fear “the white man”, and they are still hunting Nazi’s today so they don’t talk and tell us what really happened. Hey Tim, in the link you shared, Ice Cream beat Cake, 76% to 24% respectively. Might want to change your wording in the post.
The wording was correct. Tim was saying that Ice Cream’s victory could not have been due to its own merits, but rather because it was the team represented by Marina.
I just have to state that Ice Cream is way better than cake in just about every instance, unless you consider brownies a type of cake (which they technically kind of are). Then and only then does cake win out.

Actually, Tim, there is good explanation for the numbers. Yes, Marina (Ida) is cute, but the same could be said about Pearl (Hime). Ultimately, deciding factor was season. If not for summer, I believe ice cream would be less popular choice. Also, I could not help but note that team win rate of Cake team was much better, even if numbers turned out much better for Ice Cream team.
The solo win rate of Ice Cream was better, the team win rate of Cake was better. Indicating that better pre-formed teams joined cake, while better solo players joined Ice Cream.
