I noticed Scott’s crown was different, and for about five minutes I couldn’t figure out why. So say there looking at his crown and Ethan’s, his crown and Ethan’s. Then I thought about Lucas’ crown, but it was the same as Ethan’s and Scott was still the odd man. However, then I started to think about how about was in the original universe. He was a Linux-based computer guy. Do then it all came into place; Scott was a Linux system computer guy before the reboot, but now he works at Gamehaven and presumably is a gamer himself, but likely… Read more »

You might want to check the crowns in yesterdays comic too 😉

Yeah, he has WASD on his crown, the common Movebuttons in PC games, but he is playing console games too. We actually see this in Home-Cooked, p3 (released November 24, 2017) I really like the fact that he is feeling more human and has more character in this universe than the pinguin controlled linux guy before the reboot (where his only point was protecting his room from Ethan and that he was a Linux Guy) . I think one point that covers this, is that we can see his Eyes behind the glasses since the reboot (giving the character more… Read more »

I want to know: what do smartphone-only gamers wear? Or those people who only really got into the Wii, and never used a directional d-pad?

I mean, do they just have a big screen or Wiimote strapped to their forehead?

Do they just pick up a standard d-pad crown, to “fit in”?

Or are they ‘those’ people who just don’t celebrate the holiday?

I want a crown with an Atari 2600 paddle in the center.

Maybe one of those “virtual” (on-screen) joysticks.

yeah, that’s a super cool observation! If I’m reading the previous page crowns right, it also looks like the customer has the konami code printed around the band, and Ethan and Lucas have street fighter moves for the hadouken(?). I also like the variation in the crown tips, with Scott’s looking like the classic mario steps. Great details!

The feeling when you have a Freelancer who has mastered the way of the Monk, the Ninja and the Ranger, then lets loose a Dual Wielded Blood Sword !Rapidfire…onto a Zombie Dragon.
Turns out when healing is inverted, it is not fun to be on the receiving end of multiple 1k heals

Oh Ethan, stop betting your vacation on bets you cannot win. XD

Ethan you moron! You wagered against the man that had the advantage of experience and supreme comfort, and came out with the expected result.

Plus you suck.

I’m not quite sure if explaining jokes is that useful, but here goes: Scott tried to tell Ethan that betting his entire holiday on a single bet was a bad idea. (As in, don’t bet on things like that). Ethan didn’t get that, and instead focused too much on the ‘single’ part of that, interpreting it as ‘one bet is not enough’. So he challenged Lucas to another Monster Hunting bet for double or nothing. He then lost, so now instead of facing just one horrible week of having to do all the store work by himself, he’s now looking… Read more »

Huh, I read that slightly differently – because it was “entire vacation,” I assumed that it meant that he also has to work all of next year’s Winter-een-mas as well; not just that he has another solid week of work coming up.

Also the interpretation I got, especially since the word ‘entire’ is in bold

Here’s yet another interpretation:
The shop is run by all 3 of them and now Ethan’s gotta do all the shifts.

That is instead of just his own and Lucas’ he now has to take Scott’s shifts as well.

I think it is implied that he challenged Lucas over the phone, playing against him over the ‘net and thus got his rear handed to him. No sign of a controller anywhere near Scott.

I like the fact that Scott still is surprised that Ethan takes his comment at face level and interprets it the way he did 😀

@explain pls

Ethan, who lost his vacation during the Winter-een-mas holiday, misinterprets Scott’s words in the first panel, and decides to challenge Lucas to double the vacation or nothing.

This is in an effort for Ethan to get to go home for the rest of the holiday plus some, but he loses the contest yet again, meaning Lucas gets to stay home even longer.

“Okay, so after you wagered working in the store for your life, you decided to try again? And you lost?
How does that even work?”

Hi Tim, are you aware that (for a few weeks now) your ad-service-provider ist using some quite rude methods? At least German readers on mobile devices get really annoing noninteruptable fullscreen autoplay video ads with some “You won, clicke here to redeem” b***s*** with sound. It is not very pleasant to trigger those when in a full subway or in office. 😉
I cant imagine that this is intended – maybe you’ll want to have another close look on which service you are working with.

Tim, this is really impressive. As a web dev I’m always really impressed when content creators go out of their way to listen to their users’ complaints and issues and make efforts to improve their experience. *sniff* I love you, man.

You do have to admire that his ethic is he fairly lost a bet he will abide by the conditions.

Yes, even without Lilah or non-antagonist Zeke Ethan is an amazing and morally unchallenged person.
In the sense that he has no morals with which to be challenged of course.

He MUST abide. He breaks the rules, he breaks the game – and without games, Ethan is nothing.

Hi Tim, I have a family members wedding coming up and I know the person getting married really enjoys your comics. I’d like to ask you for something (paid of course) as a gift. I don’t want to say much as I’m worried they may see this and I don’t want to give away the surprise if I can avoid it. I’m assuming as I have to attach my email to this you receive that. If you can send me a message that would be amazing

And no not even looking for something as legendary as a Zeke plushy although he’d love that too. Just a signature on something. Really hope to hear from him though
