I’m telling you…

October 2, 2008 by Tim

This past week is almost enough to make a guy start buying pre-built computers. Hanging on to the idea of my new system crushing the shit out of Fallout 3 on max settings is all that’s keeping me truckin’. Also… it looks pretty! I’ll regale you with the entire nightmare (hopefully) soon, after I’ve woken […]

It’s always something

September 29, 2008 by Tim

Got the new computer up and running, but WAR is throwing a fit. I keep getting errorless crashes to desktop, and apparently I’m not alone. At least I can still play fine on the other PC.

My Sac

September 27, 2008 by Tim

I’m getting emails asking me what size my Sac is. That seems a bit personal, but okay… it’s 6ft. It’s roughly equivalent to the size of my SumoSac. Dur hur hur.

Sliding in style

September 26, 2008 by Tim

You may remember me talking about the SumoSac a few months ago. It’s still one of my favorite chairs in the house, and I’ve dozed off in it more than a few times. Recently I got my hands on a couple of Sumo Omni PLUS chairs. These are basically the Sumo Omni (the chairs you […]

If I may…

September 25, 2008 by Tim

If I may interject into all of the “Ding dong, the witch is dead” chanting, I just wanted to put a little perspective on Jack Thompson’s disbarment. As much as you may “hate” Jack Thompson, it should be important to remember that he was not disbarred for speaking out against video games. We as gamers […]

Jack Thompson has been disbarred in Florida. As much as I absolutely do not agree with the man’s opinions or tactics for expressing those opinions, I do feel sorry for the guy. He did bring it on himself, though.

Until Sunday September 28th, event t-shirts are free with paid Digital Overload registration.

To clarify…

by Tim

This is for a new, scratch-built gaming PC. The two GTX280s are going to be water cooled no matter what. The water blocks are built into the cards, and they put off the most heat, so they’re the priority. The motherboard’s nb/sb is “H2O ready” so it’s more an option of including it in the […]

Water cooling

September 24, 2008 by Tim

Let me throw this out here… maybe someone has had experience… If I’ve got a Reserator XT, a Striker II Extreme (with the hydro on the NB/SB) and 2 water-cooled GeForce 280s… could the Reserator handle a Processor->NB/SB->Video1->Video2 loop, or am I going to be dumping hot water on my processor? Should I just stick […]

Ctrl+Alt+Del Posters

September 22, 2008 by Tim

Remember a while back when I said we’d be offering posters soon? Well, the first two are available now, in 18″x24″ glossy splendor. CAD – Commandments poster design @ © SplitReason.com CAD – Players poster design @ © SplitReason.com

I plowed through The Force Unleashed last week. It was a good time. If you haven’t played it yet, I’d recommend it. From a gameplay standpoint, it was solid, if perhaps a bit repetitive. No an unenjoyable kind of repetitive, mind you. After all, how boring could tossing Stormtroopers around with the force possible get? […]

And we’re off!

September 17, 2008 by Tim

Wow, Digital Overload registration opened with a bang. We’ve already had three times as many registrations as we had in the same time last year. I’ll make an announcement when we start approaching the registration cap. We’re not there yet, but at this rate it may not be long. We’ve listed some hotel information on […]

Warhammer: Age of Reckoning

September 15, 2008 by Tim

I’m getting a large amount of emails about this, so I figure I’ll address it here for all to see. Yes, I am (of course) playing Warhammer Online. Sometimes I play MMO’s publicly (give out my server and character name) and sometimes I play them privately. With Warhammer I will primarily be playing privately, with […]

Digital Overload registration is now open! Remember, the first 500 registrants will receive a limited edition CAD poster (18″x24″) and registration will be capped this year, so the sooner you register, the better. Don’t forget to check out the Digital Overload forums if you want to arrange room and ride shares, which can really help […]

Haha, cool

September 13, 2008 by Tim

I’ve gotten a few emails from readers who have had my species/spaceship randomly show up in their game. Pretty neat!

More Spore

by Tim

Gotta love that Sporepedia. During my tribal stage, my village regularly hunted a pack of wild Jackie Chans that nested nearby. Need to get this out of my system this weekend, with Rock Band 2, Force Unleashed and WAR dropping next week.

What the hell…?

September 11, 2008 by Tim

It’s 4am. I sat down to play Spore thirteen hours ago. How the fuck…? I… Gods damn you, Will Wright.

Spore

September 10, 2008 by Tim

Yeah, I’ve been playing Spore a bit, in between work and the WAR beta with the girlfriend. I’ll reserve a full blown review for when I’ve had more time with it, but so far I think I agree with the consensus that the game is more than the sum of its parts. Each stage, taken […]

Zee Badges

by Tim

A lil’ Mitch Hedberg to start your Wednesday. Registration for Digital Overload 2009 opens on Monday the 15th, and I have some new details for you. Badge structure will be somewhat similar to last year (and every year before that), meaning the sooner you book your ticket, the cheaper it is. This year, in addition […]

Digital Overload 2009

September 2, 2008 by Tim

That’s right, the dates for Digital Overload 2009 are March 6-8. We’re back at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence for our fourth and biggest year yet. The Digital Overload website, along with registration, will open up on Monday September 15th. We will be opening up registration, announcing our first wave of sponsors, the […]

Urgh

August 30, 2008 by Tim

So I played through Too Human again, this time in single player. No fucking way am I ever doing that again. That story/dialogue/cutscene animation was awful. Anyway, the second play-through got me to level 40. Now I need to go back and play a third time just to get my guy to level 50. And […]

Castles have been Crashed.

August 27, 2008 by Tim

Castle Crashers is just as outstanding and gorgeous to behold as I’d always hoped. Unfortunately it is also marred by pretty rough multiplayer-connection issues. Hopefully they can get those worked out soon, I’d hate to see it ruin people’s first impressions of the game, since it’s pretty much designed as a co-op experience.

Thanks for all of the submissions guys, they were a blast to read through, and there were some tough choices. If anyone was curious, Blue Knight was the most popular choice with the most submissions, and Red Knight was, appropriately, the red-headed stepchild of the bunch, with the fewest submissions.

Castle Crashers

August 26, 2008 by Tim

So Castle Crashers finally hits XBLA tomorrow. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this game for years. Since it’s got four-player co-op, I thought it might be fun to offer three spots to readers for a bit of a Castle Crashers marathon tomorrow afternoon starting at 4pm EST and running until… whenever. I’m planning […]
